What is the IP Capsule™?

The IPC is a structured methodology targeting different groups within a company, starting with senior and business management. It aims to help companies define and achieve business goals, whether it’s targeting new markets or reinventing existing ones with disruptive technologies. Here’s a closer look at the three key phases of the IPC process.

Initial Phase:
Defining Business Plans with Leadership

The IPC journey begins with senior management and business development teams. Through a series of meetings, we delve into the company’s current business landscape and brainstorm "What If We Could" (WIWC) scenarios. These sessions encourage creative thinking by removing default assumptions and envisioning new strategic markets and business plans.

Brainstorming Sessions: Imaginary options for extending current business or addressing new markets are presented.

Sample Plans: We define and discuss three high-level plans: a minor but crucial technological advance, a breakthrough alternative, and an optional major market shift.

Second Phase:
Product and R&D Teams Explore Breakthroughs

In the second phase, the WIWC requirements are handed over to the product and R&D (PRND) teams. These teams assess the business requirements and explore new technology solutions and services to outpace competitors and enhance current product lines.

Learning and Assessment: Teams explore current market alternatives and brainstorm new technologies.

Problem Identification: Each discussion identifies inadequately solved or unsolved problems, providing background and context.

Presentations: Team members present their research on current market situations, future steps, and innovative ideas from other domains.

Patent Search: A thorough investigation of related patents is conducted.

At the end of this phase, multiple target topics (TT) for innovation are defined, aligning with the company’s business requirements. Team members then choose TTs they are passionate about and wish to work on.

Third Phase: IPC Offsite

Where the Magic Happens

The final phase involves the PRND team retreating to a remote location for two to three days. This offsite session is crucial for fostering a "Free Innovative Spirit" and adhering to the offsite rules, which are designed to spark creativity and collaboration.

Magic of Offsite: With proper preparation, the team experiences a surge of innovative ideas, leading to disrupted technologies and often resulting in 1-5 patent approvals.

Team Bonding: The offsite not only generates innovative solutions but also energizes the team, fostering a mindset geared towards continuous improvement and innovation.

Unified Team: The team emerges more cohesive, understanding each other’s strengths and contributions better, and ready to tackle any challenge with a collaborative spirit.

In upcoming blog posts, we will dive deeper into the rules of the IPC offsite, the values it instills, and the expected outcomes. Stay tuned to learn more about how the IP Capsule™ can transform your company’s approach to innovation and market leadership.
